Kraken Hockey

Hockey from a different perspective

Me posing for a photo with Luke Prokop

I am a newer hockey fan; I only got into it this year. Even though I am a newer fan I am so excited to start the hockey journey. I currently follow two teams but am hoping to expand that this year, locally I have been able to follow the Tri-City Americans and the Seattle Kraken. While hockey has not been in my life long, I have been enjoying every minute of it. Hockey has changed my career in life; it has become a vital part of my life and experiencing the drought between the ending of the Cup championship and the start of the Ams season is already feeling too long. During June I was able to go to the Seattle Pride Hockey Association event, during this event I was able to meet Luke Prokop, the first out gay player under NHL contract. Getting to experience queer joy in a hockey setting is something I never even thought possible but luckily, I was wrong. Queerness is something that exists within the hockey community and it is something that should be celebrated rather than hidden away in the dark corners of the league.
